Getting Started — Shopify
Your first popup in minutes
A step-by-step guide to installing Popup Wizard on Shopify and launching a high-converting popup campaign.
Install Popup Wizard
Open the Shopify App Store and search for “Popup Wizard”, or click the link below. Click Install and approve the permissions. The app is added to your Shopify admin instantly — no theme edits or code required.
One-click install — no theme edits, no code, no developer needed.
Create your first campaign
Inside the Popup Wizard dashboard, click New Campaign. Choose a goal — email capture, discount code, announcement, or banner. Then type a short prompt describing your popup and let the AI generate the headline, body copy, and call-to-action for you.
You can regenerate AI content as many times as you like until it sounds right for your brand.
Writing a good prompt
Include these four things for the best results:
- →Goal — what should the popup accomplish?
- →Layout — centered card, two-column, full-width banner?
- →CTA — what should the button say?
- →Behavior — what happens after the click?
Example prompt
“Create a two-column email signup popup for a Shopify store. Left side: a lifestyle product image. Right side: discount headline, supporting text, email input field, a ‘Get 10% Off’ CTA button, and a small ‘No thanks’ link below.”

Use the visual editor to adjust colors, fonts, button styles, border radius, and spacing so the popup matches your storefront. Changes preview in real time before you save.
Start with your primary brand color for the button — it's usually the highest-impact design change.
Set targeting rules
Choose which pages trigger your popup: all pages, specific URLs, or URL patterns. You can also filter by device (desktop, mobile, tablet), UTM campaign parameter, or query string — so the right visitors see the right message.
A discount popup targeted to visitors arriving from a paid ad campaign typically converts 2–3× better than a sitewide popup.
Configure timing and frequency
Set a delay (e.g. show after 5 seconds or on exit intent) and a frequency rule (e.g. once per session, once per day, or once per visitor). This prevents popup fatigue while keeping your campaigns active.
For email capture, “once per visitor” is the standard setting — show it once and respect the dismiss.
Publish and monitor
Hit Publish. Your popup goes live immediately. Head to the Analytics tab to see impressions, clicks, and conversions tracked in real time with pixel-based data. Use this to A/B compare campaigns and improve over time.
Give each campaign at least 200 impressions before drawing conclusions about conversion rate.
Not on Shopify?
Popup Wizard works on any website. See our web tutorial or Wix tutorial.
