Auto-Updating Announcement Bars: Show Your Latest Blog Post
How to show your latest blog post in an announcement bar: paste your blog or research page link once, fetch the latest post, and let the bar update when you publish again.
Most announcement bars use a message you write: free shipping, sale dates, holiday hours, a new collection. You set the line once, publish, and change it when the offer changes.
If you publish often, an auto-updating announcement bar can show the latest blog post, article, or research piece from a page link you provide — so visitors always see the newest title and link without you rewriting the bar each time.
Fixed messages still come first
Write your own short line when:
- The message is a policy or promo that must not change on its own (shipping threshold, “sale ends Sunday”).
- You are announcing one specific launch or collection.
- You need full control of every word on the strip.
Guides for that path:
When an auto-updating announcement bar helps
Use latest-post mode when you:
- Publish blogs, articles, or research on a regular cadence.
- Want the top (or bottom) bar to drive traffic to the newest piece.
- Prefer setting the blog page link once instead of editing the bar after every publish.
Skip it for one-off sales or policy messages that should stay locked.
How it works in Popup Wizard
- 1Create a bar campaign (same place you build any announcement strip).
- 2Turn on Dynamic Content.
- 3Paste the link to your blog, articles, or research page (the list of posts — not a single article).
- 4Click Fetch now. The bar fills with the latest title, a short line of text, and the link.
- 5Save and publish. Visitors see that post on your site.
After that, the bar updates when you publish a newer post. You can still click Fetch now anytime to pull the latest content right away. If an update fails, the live bar keeps the last good message so shoppers do not see an empty strip.
Content performance
For bars that promote your latest posts, the home dashboard can show Content Performance: which posts drove views, clicks, and leads while they were live. That helps you see whether promoting your latest blog post is worth keeping on.
Bars with a fixed message you wrote use regular campaign analytics instead.
Tips
- Hide the button if you want the whole strip clickable without a separate call-to-action — see Shopify announcement bar.
- Keep titles short enough for a thin bar; long headlines cut off poorly on mobile.
- Use one sitewide latest-post bar, not three competing strips.
- Switch back to a fixed promo when the bar should stop following your blog.
